2020 September – The Catalyst

We lost our youngest son late September of 2020. Somewhere in the whirlwind of grief, disbelief, and unavoidable “planning”, we created a Gofundme campaign for Trevor. We knew we did not want flowers, trees, or countless other things thoughtful people would want to give as a gesture of their shared sorrow. So instead, we asked folks to offer a donation to Trevor’s Big Heart New Day Community Support Fund. The idea was to direct 100% of campaign contributions to local charitable organizations that aligned with Trevor’s empathetic passions.

Trevor had a huge heart and out-sized empathy for others; known to even put his own life on the line for the protection and care of anyone he loved, never leaving them to feel alone. Socially, he was selflessly passionate about equality, the environment, mental and physical wellness, and critical challenges facing local communities (such as homelessness & mental health gaps). Trevor also believed people need a place to relax and meditate, a place to escape the daily stresses and pressures surrounding us.

We were pleasantly surprised by the outpouring of support. As a result, we decided to form a charitable organization that could provide ongoing support for some of the social causes for which Trevor held a passionate interest.
